You can sign up as an individual, or as a team.. You could be part of an organisation… a School… Pub… Local business etc…. It’s up to you!
‘Run to the Sun’ is an annual 24hour relay event. Its main aim is to raise funds for RTProjects, a local, independent mental health charity.
Based on the premise that ‘the baton must not stop’ from Friday at 12 noon until Saturday at 12 noon, including right through the night, the baton will be carried by people from all ages, abilities and backgrounds, all in a spirit of fun with fancy dress as a big theme.
Over the two days and all through the night there will be exciting activities and entertainment including: live music, mindfulness walks, face painting, meet Jet & Ben the police dogs, fancy dress, craft Stall, information about other local services and more!
There will be free bottled water and food available to buy throughout the event.

This event is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the achievements of all involved with RTProjects:
The event takes place at Maiden Castle Athletics track (behind the Graham Sports Centre)
There is ample parking on site, but you must register your vehicle at reception.
The fun starts at 10am on Friday. Schools will take part in athletics training. At 10:30 Durham Police dogs Jet & Ben will be there to talk to children about talking to strangers. The Big Start is at 12-noon when Alfie Joey will be setting off the relay. This is a ‘crowd’ event, which this year will be headed by a giant mole in the form of the Josephine Butler College Mascot.
If you’ve signed up online, please come ready to start at your specified start time, but feel free to stay as long as you like, or come back again at any point during the event.
There’ll be a sign in table where you should let one of our volunteers know you’ve arrived.
If you haven’t signed up online, you can still come and join in the fun; just see one of our volunteers on the sign-in desk and you can pay by cash or card.
The event is a fundraiser, so please do try to raise as much as you can on top of your entry fee! Remember, there’s a great prize for the person or team who has raised the most funds. It could be you!!

You have until 10th July to hand over all your fundraising efforts for it to be counted towards the competition for highest amount raised. However you can of course continue to give us any money you have raised at any time after the event.
