RTProjects (if you haven’t heard of us, try saying it out loud) is a small, independent charity, set up in 2007, based on the belief that art can save lives.
We aim to reduce anxiety and depression by enabling people to use art to strengthen their emotional resilience by developing coping strategies which they can use throughout their life.
Poor mental health is something that one in four of us will experience at some point in our lives. With the right support, recovery is possible, and indeed people can become stronger through their journey.
We Aim to:
‘The Open Art Surgery’
“A vibrant and dynamic place where magical things can happen”
Integral to our delivery/work is our community art studio in Gilesgate, Durham.
'The Open Art Surgery' is a fully equipped artist’s studio, which is specifically designed to enable people to flourish both creatively and emotionally.
It is a safe and supportive environment, which nurtures opportunities for interaction - a place where people can interact with others in similar situations and share experiences.
